Lately many of the youth of GSCH have been going out in the communities
near and far from the home, conducting
Bible club programs- evangelizing many children and pre-teens.
In the month of April a program was done in a
nearby town where we had 90+ children attend
and had 71 children accept the Lord! We also went up the mountain to Guayaba
for the third time since January. The 9 youth workers did all of the activities for
the program in which we had 8 children accept Christ as their Savior! For the
children and parents of the mountain community of Guayaba we hand out clothes, toys, and school supplies to
these very needy people. Eleana, one of the youth helping from the home was touched as she saw a little girl crying
because she was receiving two new shirts and a pair of shoes. “I realized how at the home sometimes we take it for
granted the clothes and other things we receive, and here these kids have nothing! I want to continue helping in any
way possible.” Please continue praying for this awesome outreach ministry to many outside the home! |

La Granja penitentiary in Granada
April 20, 11 ladies, including myself, went to the La Granja penitentiary
in Granada and realized a 3 hour mini-retreat with 33 women prisoners. As
you know, I do the women's ministry in Nicaragua and this has been retreats
for our churches and/or pastor's wives in the past, but the last two years,
I have limited the retreats to the pastor's and/or leaders of our churches
with the intent to train these ladies to return to their churches (with the
information given in our retreats, i.e. theme, lectures, games, ideas,
etc.), and realize their own retreats. I heard a long time ago, that a
missionaries' job is to: "work themselves out of job"--so that is what I am doing. |
 |
| For four years, Lisa Martin, from Claremore, OK has come down and helped
me with my retreats. She is also helping me to train up these ladies to be
women leaders in their churches. This year, Lisa, shared with me a
ministry that she is doing in OK, that of working in the penitentiary with
women prisoners. God used her as a catalyst to interest me in this
ministry as well. I pursued two different penitentiaries in Nicaragua, but
the Lord only opened the door to the second. Due to the fact that Darrel
had brought a small team to this prison, the man in charge was familiar
with our mission and allowed us to begin a ministry to the women prisoners. |
| The day we went to the prison, it must have been between 95-100 degrees
with no fans nor movement of air of any kind--but through our sweat and
efforts and the presence of the Holy Spirit guiding us, we succeeded in
teaching 3 lectures on the reality of God in our life, plus share times,
games and refreshments. It was truly a "God-thing and we give Him all the
glory and honor. The ladies that accompanied me included 4 pastor's wives
and the others are leaders in their respective churches. Since the theme
of our retreats for two years now has been "women reaching women", my idea
is to train these ladies in this ministry outreach so that they can
continue it without my assistance, and then I can go to other prisons with
other pastor's wives and women leaders, and establish a ministry there. |
I really don't know where God is taking this, but I am willing to "seize
the opportunity" as an open door, and continue to follow the Spirit's
prompting's. Please pray for this ministry!! I will probably work with the
present group of ladies in La Granja until the end of the year, and then
evaluate the possibility of other prisons next year.
God is so good and I am grateful to be a part of BMDMI and the ministry
opportunities that it presents. - Cathey |
