Papi Greg & Mama Eva -by Kelly & Trisha Lawrence
Group photo at the Send-off

After a mission trip to Honduras in 1995, God revealed His plan for The Good Shepherd Children's Home (GSCH) to Greg and Eva Vaughn. Unable to have children of their own, the Vaughn's had been praying to fill their home with children. God instilled in the Vaughn's a vision to open a home where abandoned, abused, and neglected children would live in a safe and clean environment; where they would receive proper nutrition; where they would be loved; where they would receive an education; and most importantly, where they would learn about Jesus Christ.

The Vaughns' vision became a reality and their prayers were answered in 1998 when they began to fill their home with children. Once their home was at full capacity, the began to pray what God wanted them to do next. While walking through a corn field on the GSCH property, Greg told Bruce Johnson, a fellow missionary and very dear friend, "we are not here to raise corn; we are here to raise children." God provided the funds to construct casitas and to hire Christian tias to care for all of the children. In less than ten years, the GSCH had become a home to 227 children.

Praise God that Papi Greg and Mama Eva listened to God's call in their lives. Because they prayerfully and faithfully walked through all of the open doors, God provided all they needed and sustained them all of these years. They provided a loving home for God's children of Honduras and they planted something better than corn; they planted the Word of God in hundreds of children and employees. These seeds will forever bear fruit!

Please pray for Greg, Eva, and their family as they take a year long furlough in the USA. God provided for them here in Honduras; we know He will provide for them as they seek rest and renewal.

SAIRA YISSEL GARCIA MARTINEZ
SAIRA YISSEL GARCIA MARTINEZ
PROJECT LIFE -by Tina Woods
Two years ago in Erandique, Lemipra, Honduras, little 2 year old Saira was diagnosed with an "Anal perforation & recto-vaginal fistula" or a malformed rectum & vaginal cavity, with only one opening below, instead of two. Her family, like many who live in remote villages, were terrified of the big capital city of Tegucigalpa and opted not to bring their daughter to the hospital for care. The last week of May, the Robinson-Johnston team saw Saira in their medical clinic. She presented with a megacolon & had not been able to go to the bathroom for 10 days. Our doctors spent time explaining to the mother that Saira was in grave danger at this moment & literally only had days to live if something was not done for her immediately. Her family brought her into Tegucigalpa on June 6, & doctors at Hospital Escuela performed an emergency colostomy on Saira, thereby saving her life. The next few reconstructive surgeries are scheduled to be done by specialists coming to BMDMI's Hospital Bautista in Guaimaca, beginning July 24, 2011. By this time next year, Saira should be functioning as a normal, healthy child. Please be in prayer for Saira, as well for the upcoming surgical teams who will be reconstructing the remaining colon & repairing fistulas. Thanks be to God for his divine intervention in saving Saira's life---may HE be glorified through all those who care for her.
