We do not throw in the towel...

These men were all products of drug and alcohol addictions but they had come together to watch a karate demonstration by a group of North Americans who had traveled to Nicaragua as a part of a BMDMI Team. The leader of the group, Denny Holzbauer, was a former world champion kick boxer, now black-belt in karate, who uses his sport as an avenue to share the love and power of Christ and bring hope to those who need it most. Denny’s father was a boxer who used to work in Denny’s ring corner when he was a fighter. Denny said dad told me at the beginning of every round, “remember son, there’s no towel in this corner.” Boxing aficionados know that “throwing in the towel” stops the fight. Denny’s dad was saying, “Son there’s no quitting, no matter how tough it gets.” Denny’s message to the men was, “Don’t quit!” No matter how many times you have fallen, get up and keep going. Make Christ the center of your life and your source of power and be a warrior for Christ. This powerful, inspiring message came after exciting karate demonstrations that included many different examples of self defense, breaking of boards, by both the guys and the gals, and actual free fighting. At the end of the time, Denny asked the men, “How many of you want to be men of God who don’t quit no matter what?” More than one-hundred of them jumped up in unison and said, “I do!” The glory of God had fallen!
